-- LOS ANGELES - No Matter What Recovery, a Los Angeles-based substance abuse and mental health treatment program serving the LGBTQ+ community, is expanding its team with the addition of Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) Derek Tywoniuk. A Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor with a Master of Science in Counseling from Cal State Los Angeles, Tywoniuk brings specialized training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). His expertise enables him to work collaboratively with clients—many of whom are members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies—to offer them the kind of specialized support they need as they recover.
“It's a privilege to join the team at No Matter What Recovery because of the extremely high caliber of its work in the recovery field,” says Tywoniuk, who is also an accomplished musician and earned a PhD in Music from UCLA. “I look forward to tapping into my many years of experience in the mental health arena including working with LGBTQ+ folks, those with addiction issues, people with disabilities and even artists and musicians who are striving to become their best, most authentic selves.”

No Matter What Recovery offers a number of psycho-educational therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). The program also facilitates group discussions focusing on trauma, relapse prevention, chemsex, healthy communication skills and goal-setting. No Matter What Recovery operates 5 sober living facilities in Los Angeles housing 40 clients at any given time as well as a detox facility that will accommodate 12 clients as of next year.
