PLYMOUTH, Wisc. - November 13, 2025 - Service One Transportation today announced that it is expanding its active recruitment of women as drivers and other key roles at the company. The move comes as the traditionally male-dominated trucking industry is facing an unprecedented shortage of drivers. The American Trucking Association (ATA) estimates that the industry currently has over 80,000 unfilled driver positions. By encouraging women to consider careers in trucking, Service One Transportation is not only addressing its own human resources needs but also serving as a trendsetter in an industry that needs to adapt to changing times.
“Our corporate culture offers a good fit for people who want work-life balance,” said Mike Myszewski, Vice President of Service One Transportation. “We are a diverse organization with strong benefits and a focus on safety. I think the prospect of a career at Service One Transportation will be appealing to many women. We welcome the opportunity to get to know a new generation of candidates.”
Following a Major Industry Trend
Women are embracing trucking careers in increasing numbers. According to the US Department of Labor and the Women in Trucking (WIT) Association, there has been an 88% increase in the number of female truck drivers since 2010. Women have also made gains in other roles in the industry, including the C-suite, which is now 33% female, as well as boards of directors (39%).
Service One is Hiring CDL Truck Drivers
Service One is actively hiring value-driven, Class A CDL company drivers and owner-operators. The company welcomes applicants from its home state and surrounding areas. Women in particular are encouraged to apply. Drivers can expect a safe, comfortable, and modern fleet of trucks, a renowned in-house maintenance team, and a full suite of benefits, including excellent per-mile earnings, paid vacations and holidays, and top-tier medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
A Culture of Safety
Service One holds regular driver meetings where management reviews the company’s current Compliance, Safety, and Accountability (CSA) scores, which are assigned by the US DOT’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). The scores provide a good measure of how well Service One is performing in terms of driver behaviors, particularly in the unsafe driving categories, such as speeding, failure to follow traffic control devices, and improper lane usage. Service One’s process is to review issues that happen both as a group and individually with the driver if they are cited for any type of violations. Some meetings feature a guest speaker who is an expert in the field, such as a former Wisconsin State Patrol inspector who conducted a direct review of the pre-trip inspection processes for tractors and trailers. This helps the driver know what to look for to make sure their equipment is safe and prevent them from being shut down at a scale if their equipment fails inspection.
Service One also executes a robust preventive maintenance program. This ensures that all the equipment is dependable and safe for the driver and the general motoring public that shares the road with commercial motor vehicles.
Adding New Tractors to the Fleet
Growth is an important driver of recruiting for Service One, including its enthusiasm for adding women to the ranks of its drivers. As it grows, Service One will be adding six new 2025 Kenworth T680 model tractors, powered by Cummins motors. The sleeper tractors are fully equipped with dual bunks, refrigerators, and Auxiliary Power Units (APUs), so drivers won't have to idle trucks when they are on their breaks.
